What is ATIA Accredited?
When planning a trip, the ATIA Accredited symbol tells you the travel agencies and tour operators you’re dealing with are credible, well-trained and professional. They’ve met strict criteria to become nationally accredited, so you can book with them knowing you’re in the safe hands of one of the best in the business.
ATIA Accredited Travel Agents are experts who can provide access to a huge variety of products and destinations across Australia and the world, as well as the best suppliers and first-to-market offers. They provide a friendly, hassle-free, convenient travel experience, from beginning to end.
ATIA Accredited Tour operators are knowledgeable professionals who specialise in planning and organising tours. They have extensive knowledge of the destinations, attractions, and local customs. Their expertise can help you make the most of your experience on your holiday, ensuring you visit the must-see places and experience the best activities whilst they take care of the logistics of transport and accommodation.
ATAS (Australian Travel Accreditation Scheme) is now known as ATIA Accreditation
The scheme is administered by the industry association, the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA). Agents and operators who hold ATIA accreditation are required to conduct business in compliance with Australian Consumer Law and in accordance with the ATAS Charter and Code of Conduct.
It is important to note ATIA accreditation represents a point-in-time assessment against the criteria of the Charter. While all care and due diligence is taken, ATIA makes no warranty, representation or guarantee that any ATIA member is solvent at any given time.
ATIA accreditation is a voluntary membership scheme and is not a government-administered body nor is it an insurance or compensation scheme.
Here’s why you should always book with an industry-accredited ATIA travel agent and tour operator
Your Own Peace of Mind
ATIA-accredited travel agents and tour operators have experience you can trust. They are accredited through the peak industry body, the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) and held accountable to elevated standards of service delivery and professionalism.
Get Expert Guidance
When engaging an ATIA-accredited travel agent and tour operator, you’re dealing with trained destination and product experts who know how to sort through the copious amount of travel information available. Their industry knowledge and networks mean they have access to the best products and first-to-market offers to ensure you get access to the best travel experiences.
It's Convenient
A travel agency is a one-stop shop for all your travel needs. They can advise on and book every aspect of a trip, including flights, transfers, accommodation, tours, activities and travel insurance.
Get Extra Value
Agents and operators have access to exclusive opportunities and will find the products that best fit your unique travel needs for the best possible value.
Advice From Those Who Know
Your agent and tour operator will ensure you get where you want to go when you need to get there, providing timely, insightful, professional guidance along the way. Their experience counts.
The Personal Touch
Your travel agent and tour operator offers an extra pair of eyes to ensure the accuracy of your booking details. They can advise on visa applications, aid with travel documentation and offer valuable travel tips. They can also store travel preferences, such as frequent flyer numbers & meal/set requests to save you retrieving them every time you book. Some even offer a 24-hour service, so you have someone to call in the event of an emergency.
Received Unbiased Recommendations
Travel agents and tour operators work for their clients, not for a travel supplier. Let them do the work for you – they’ll filter your options and provide recommendations that make the most sense for you.
Your Personalised Travel Specialist
Imagine a perfect trip planned just for you. Professional travel agents and tour operators are trained to make your entire experience, from start to end, hassle-free. As your trusted adviser, not only do they tailor the itinerary to best suit your needs, but they can also suggest the right restaurant, museum or off-the-beaten-track excursion to suit you.
They're Your Advocate
If you experience a problem while travelling, your agent or operator acts as your personal travel advocate. If your flight is delayed or cancelled, if you need to reschedule, if a supplier ceases to trade, or a natural disaster or personal accident occurs, the agent can provide support and assistance in a timely manner.
If Something Does Go Wrong You're Supported
All ATIA-accredited travel agents and tour operators are bound by the code of conduct which includes compliance and specific mandates relating to customer complaint handling processes. In addition to a 3 step complaints process, ATIA also includes an independent appeals process for consumers. Further information may be found here.
