A new year brings new adventures – and for many travellers, that means planning epic journeys and unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re dreaming of hiking Kilimanjaro, cycling across Europe, or reaching Everest Base Camp, the big question is: will my travel insurance actually cover me if I take on?

With travel insurance, not all adventures are created equal. Some activities are automatically included under the standard international Comprehensive Care policies, while others need a little extra attention to make sure you’re protected.
The good news? With Cover-More, you can focus on your bucket list, knowing your cover is designed to keep up with your spirit of adventure – as long as you know what’s included and what needs an optional cover variation.
What’s covered straight away? ^
Plenty of adventurous activities are already covered, without needing to pay for extras. Here are just some of them:
- Abseiling
- Archery
- Hot air ballooning
- Bungy jumping
- Horse riding
- Jet skiing
- White water rafting
- Snorkelling
You’re also covered for casual cycling (just not the Tour de France France/racing or participating in a professional capacity), and kayaking. So if you’re planning to pedal through France or explore coral reefs, you’re good to go with the standard policy.
To find out more, please be sure to carefully read the Product Disclosure Statement (or PDS) to learn how your policy operates and what may or may not be covered. If you have any questions, please contact us at 1300 72 88 22.
Have something more adventurous in mind?^
If your adventures go beyond the basics, Cover-More’s Adventure Activities cover variations may have you covered. Here’s a taste of what can be included (with an extra premium):
- Closed-circuit triathlons (up to 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run)
- Outdoor rock climbing (using ropes/guides or bolted routes, under 2,000m)
- Scuba diving (up to 30-50m depth, depending on experience and certification – always supervised)
- Parachuting & skydiving (yes, you really can tick this off!)
- Trekking up to 6,000m (iconic hikes like Everest Base Camp are now possible)
- Off-piste skiing/snowboarding (following local advice, and no unnecessary risks)*
- Heli-skiing/heli-boarding (on guided tours with licensed operators)
*Cover for on-piste snow skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing is available under the Snow Sports cover variation.
What’s Not Covered? ^
Some activities are simply too risky. These include:
- Mountaineering/trekking above 6,000m with specialist gear
- BASE jumping
- Competitive or professional extreme sports
- Anything against local authorities’ advice
^ This is only a summary. Limits, sub-limits, conditions and exclusions apply. Adding optional covers to the base policy will incur an additional cost.
